Product Manager, Emergency Department Platform

About Us:

Here at Ambience, we never set out to be just another scribe. We’re building the AI intelligence platform that restores humanity to healthcare and drives meaningful ROI for health systems across the country.

Our technology helps providers focus on delivering great care by removing the administrative burden that pulls them away from patients and away from their most impactful work. Ambience delivers real-time coding-aware documentation and clinical workflow support across ambulatory, emergency and inpatient settings at the top health systems in North America.

Our teams operate relentlessly with extreme ownership to build the best solutions for our health system partners. We value candor, positivity and deep thought — and we expect a lot from each other because we know the problems we’re solving truly matter.

Ambience was ranked #1 for Improving the Clinician Experience in the KLAS Research Emerging Solutions Top 20 Report, recognized by Fast Company as one of the Next Big Things in Tech, named one of the best AI companies in healthcare by Inc., and selected as a LinkedIn Top Startup in 2024 and 2025. We’re backed by Oak HC/FT, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), OpenAI Startup Fund, and Kleiner Perkins — and we’re just getting started.

THE ROLE

As our Product Manager, Emergency Department Platform, you'll own Ambience's Emergency Department platform and the clinician experience from initial assessment through disposition and handoff. Your mission is to make ED documentation accurate, efficient, and reliable as patients' conditions and plans evolve.

You'll set the ED roadmap, lead delivery with Engineering, Design, and Clinical AI, and measure outcomes with customers. ED is a live product, so the near-term focus is the core workflow, MDM quality, note editing, and Epic integration. You'll also evaluate new capabilities, including chart context, procedural documentation, and patient summaries, based on clinician needs and customer value.

Done well, this role makes Ambience the documentation partner ED clinicians trust through the busiest and least predictable shifts in the hospital.

This is a Senior PM role - you'll work closely with engineering, design, Clinical AI/ML, and GTM teams.

We're a hybrid company headquartered in San Francisco. This role requires being in the SF office 3x/week, plus willingness to visit customers and shadow clinicians.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Product Strategy & Workflow

- Set ED priorities using clinician needs, product quality, and commercial value, making clear tradeoffs between fixes and new capabilities.

- Shadow ED clinicians to understand triage, parallel patients, reassessments, changing diagnoses, ED course, and disposition.

- Own the workflow across Ambience, Epic Haiku, and our native app: starting, updating, reviewing, editing, and filing documentation during a shift.

- Partner with our shared Scribe, Chart Prep, CDI, and EHR integration teams. You'll own the ED experience, not the cross-setting platforms.

Product Quality & Adoption

- Improve HPI, physical exam, MDM, and ED course quality with Clinical AI and Engineering, reducing fabricated content, attribution errors, misplaced sections, and regressions.

- Let clinicians update assessments as new information arrives without overwriting their edits or adding work in Epic.

- Measure note accuracy and completeness, latency, workflow completion, writeback reliability, and recurring issues across customers.

- Improve sustained usage by establishing an encounter-level ED utilization measure that handles dynamic patient lists and notes completed after discharge, and use it with clinician feedback to understand drop-off.

Customer Value & GTM

- Measure documentation time, after-shift charting, and clinician efficiency with Data, Care Transformation, and Value Attainment.

- Work with coding and revenue-cycle teams on ED documentation and CDI, including supported E/M, critical care, and procedure capture, prioritizing accuracy and compliance.

- Work with GTM and Product Marketing on a value story for clinicians, physician groups, and health systems that supports adoption, retention, and expansion.

- Validate opportunities to expand to new ED personas when customer need and value justify the investment.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Must-Haves

- 5+ years of PM experience (or equivalent product-building experience), with end-to-end ownership of a product area.

- Proven ability to learn a complex domain through firsthand user research.

- Strong technical fluency - comfort with AI/ML products, data, APIs, and complex integrations.

- Experience shipping user-facing products with complex workflows and reliability requirements.

- Strong product judgment, clear writing, and comfort making decisions with incomplete information.

- Based in SF, available to be in the office 3x/week, with willingness to visit customers and shadow clinicians.

Nice-to-Haves

- Experience with emergency medicine, clinical workflows, or healthcare IT, especially Epic and Haiku (a plus, not a requirement - we hire on scorecard competencies, not domain pedigree).

- Experience building ambient AI, clinical documentation, LLM, or human-in-the-loop products.

- Familiarity with coding/CDI or revenue-cycle workflows, especially ED E/M and critical care.

- Prior 0-to-1 product work, or experience improving adoption and quality in a live enterprise product.
