ABOUT ABBY CARE: POWERING THE FUTURE OF CARE AT HOME FOR ALL OF AMERICA.

Abby Care is building the leading AI-native platform for family-led care. America is facing a growing care crisis. Millions more people need care at home than ever. Over 50 million family caregivers support loved ones without the tools, training, or recognition they deserve.

We believe families are the largest untapped caregiving workforce in America, and that technology can help them deliver better care while driving stronger outcomes and greater transparency across the healthcare system.

Abby Care combines clinical oversight with an AI-powered platform to train, enable, and support family caregivers in delivering high-quality care at home. Our platform helps health plans and government partners better understand, verify, and improve care in the home. We expand access to care, reduce reliance on higher-cost settings, and help ensure public dollars are spent effectively.

We are proud to partner with leading health plans, providers, and community organizations and are backed by top VCs. We envision a future where family-led care is a core part of the healthcare system. Abby Care is building that future.

Join us in solving one of the most important challenges of our time.

The Opportunity:

Engineering at Abby Care is so much more than shipping code - the work we do has a profound impact on how family caregivers provide care to their loved ones. We own engineering end to end, in a 0->1 environment, building AI native platforms that will revolutionize how care is delivered at home to some of the most at risk populations. We’re looking for an experienced, mission driven and motivated individual to join us as a Senior Mobile Engineer (React Native). Reporting to the Director of Product Engineering, you will have the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative and cross functional team that is solving some of the most complex challenges in the tech-enabled healthcare delivery space.

Curious, with a growth mindset, you thrive in an environment that encourages open dialogue and experimentation to find the solutions that meet our goals. Collaborative, you enjoy working side-by-side with some of the Bay’s brightest and most innovative technologists. Mission-oriented, you care deeply about your work having a material, tangible impact on people. If you are excited about the opportunity to design and build technology that is core to the families we serve and to how Abby Care operates, and solve challenging technical problems with real-world impact and help shape the product direction and roadmap as a key early engineer, we’d love to hear from you!

This is a Full-Time Hybrid opportunity based in San Francisco.

What you'll work on:

- Drive product and platform development. You will take full ownership of the development lifecycle, from concept to delivery. This involves defining project scope based on requirements, performing mobile/full-stack development, conducting user testing, and managing launch cycles.

- Partner with cross-functional teams to solve real-world problems. You will partner with teams such as operations, clinical, compliance, product and more, in order to build solutions that work in the real world. You will be a critical voice for articulating technical initiatives to further our mission.

- Lead the team in technical excellence. You will deepen your technical “spikes”, be they in product-development, cloud infrastructure, machine learning, or data security, as well as broaden your horizons by building greenfield systems using the latest advancements in AI. You will be challenged to uphold health care industry standards and become an expert in one of the US’s largest sectors.

What you'll have:

- 5+ years of professional software development experience and a proven track record of building, scaling, and maintaining complex applications in the wild.

- You know React Native inside and out, and you are ready to be the architectural force behind rebuilding our mobile experience from the ground up to be truly AI native.

- You bring a product minded approach to development, obsessing over the end user experience to build intuitive, life changing tools for caregivers and patients.

- You possess a strong engineering foundation (a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred), driven by the architectural thinking needed to solve hard problems.

Strongly preferred:

- Experience leveraging AI tools like Cursor, Copilot, or Claude to 10x your output, and you are excited about helping us establish an AI native development culture from day one.

- Familiarity with backend development, particularly Python, and/or modern web frameworks, allowing you to fluidly connect our AI services to the mobile client.

- You are familiar with the ins and outs of the Android environment and native Android development, giving us an edge in delivering a flawless experience across all caregiver devices.

- You thrive in fast paced startup environments with high ownership, where you can move quickly and help define the engineering team's DNA.

- You have experience in the healthtech industry, or a deep personal motivation to build high stakes software that directly improves human health and home care.

BENEFITS:

- Competitive compensation packages that reflect the value you bring. We reward our team for the impact of their work.

- Comprehensive health coverage that works for you. Choose from high-quality medical dental and vision options, including a $0 deductible PPO and a company-funded HSA, alongside employer-paid life and disability insurance.

- Generous paid time off. We provide policies that allow you to recharge along with 10 paid company holidays.

- Financial savings benefits to support your future. We support your financial well-being with HSA contributions, optional FSA and commuter benefits, and full coverage of all 401(k) account fees (employer match not currently offered).

- Paid parental leave to support your growing family. We provide paid leave, so you can focus on bonding and adjusting to life as your family grows.

OUR VALUES

1. Families First

Redefining healthcare starts with how we treat the parents and children we serve. We go above and beyond for every family, building strong, lasting relationships. We continually ask ourselves, “Would we want this for our own families?”

2. Urgency with Precision

Millions of families are waiting for care, and they cannot wait, therefore this is not your typical 9 to 5 job. We match their urgency with our own, delivering exceptional care without compromise. Here, speed and excellence go hand in hand.

3. Relentlessly Resourceful

As an ambitious startup, we adapt quickly and make the most of limited time and resources. We solve challenges with creativity to deliver results without unnecessary complexity.

4. Purpose with Positivity

We take our mission seriously while never losing sight of the people behind the work. Respect, kindness, memes, and coffee make us stronger as a team and better for the families we serve.

5. Driven to Redefine What’s Possible

We are here to make healthcare better, which means asking hard questions, challenging outdated systems, and finding smarter, more compassionate ways to deliver care.
