Manufacturing Specialist (Starlink)

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

MANUFACTURING SPECIALIST (STARLINK)

At SpaceX we’re leveraging our experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world’s most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world’s largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to millions of users worldwide. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system – thousands of satellites, consumer receivers that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that brings it all together. We’ve only begun to scratch the surface of Starlink’s potential global impact and are looking for best-in-class engineers to help maximize Starlink’s utility for communities and businesses around the world.

The success of Starlink depends on the quality, reliability, cost, manufacturability, throughput, and security of the products that you deliver. If you seek a fast-paced, dynamic environment; if you thrive on solving difficult problems where resolutions have high impact; and if you love the challenge of building something from scratch, then this role will be an ideal next career step. We are looking for talented manufacturing specialists to help establish new manufacturing and test processes and support full-scale production for the user terminal (a high-volume manufactured product that consumers will have in their homes).

• Triage non-conforming products and drive resolution and preventative actions

• Identify continuous improvement opportunities for yield, performance, and cost

• Update work instructions and train teammates on the standard process, rework, and equipment tasks

• Perform process development and validation on new equipment alongside engineering

• Define maintenance schedules and support activities

• Drive area improvements involving layout, 5S, material flow, tooling, and operator safety

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate and 2+ years of professional experience in a hands-on manufacturing environment; OR bachelor's degree in an engineering, math or science discipline

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Associate or bachelor's degree in an engineering, math, or science discipline

• Demonstrated experience working in a highly adaptive and iterative environment

• Experience in a high-volume commercial manufacturing environment

• Experience supporting new product introduction and the transition of products from development to volume production

• Experience supporting process validation or process qualification on production hardware

• Experience using production data or SPC to identify quality trends

• Experience operating and troubleshooting automated production equipment, including HMI issues and basic electrical, pneumatic, or mechanical faults

• Experience with electromechanical assembly or test on manual and automated processes

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and recommend process or design improvements to engineering

• Experience using MES to document defects and non-conforming material, and familiarity with ERP or MRP systems

• Strong written and verbal communication, including updating work instructions and training others on the line
