Systems Test Engineer - All Levels

Company Overview

ACS (Allen Control Systems) is a defense technology company building precision robotic systems for the United States and its allies. Founded by two former U.S. Navy electrical engineers with deep experience in robotics and software, ACS brings together AI, computer vision, precision motion, and advanced hardware to solve complex defense challenges across land, air, and maritime environments.

Our flagship product, Bullfrog, is an autonomous precision weapon system that transforms existing weapons into highly accurate counter-drone systems — giving warfighters a scalable, cost-effective response to one of the fastest-growing threats on the modern battlefield. Bullfrog is deployed with U.S. forces, and ACS works with organizations throughout the U.S. military and national security community.

Following a $200 million Series B at a $2.2 billion valuation, ACS is rapidly expanding manufacturing, accelerating Bullfrog deployments, and developing the next generation of autonomous battlefield systems. This is an opportunity to join a proven, fast-moving team and help scale technology with direct, real-world impact on national security.

ACS is headquartered in Austin, Texas, with additional operations in Alexandria, Virginia; Mountain View, California; and Huntsville, Alabama. For more information, visit allencontrolsystems.com http://allencontrolsystems.com.

About The Role:

You'll join Allen Control Systems' Systems team — one team, three tracks (Systems, Systems Test, and Systems Reliability) reporting to the Director of Systems Engineering. We work cross-functionally across mechanical, electrical, software, controls, test, and operations to build ACS's autonomous weapon platforms including Bullfrog. We hire across all experience levels — from interns and new grads to senior engineers — and seek to grow the team's technical breadth and depth. There will be opportunities for management roles in the future as the team grows.

We are looking for a Systems Test Engineer to join our team and own system-level test execution for our next-generation autonomous weapon platforms. In this role, you will design test plans, run integrated hardware/software evaluations, analyze results, and help uncover issues before they become field problems. You will work closely with design, controls, software, and operations teams to validate performance, improve test coverage, and build confidence that the system is ready for deployment. The ideal candidate is hands-on, technically rigorous, and excited to operate at the intersection of testing, integration, and fast-paced product development.

This role can be filled with an ME/EE (hardware) or SW focus — tell us which lane fits you best; strong generalists are welcome too.

We're hiring across multiple experience levels, including:

- Associate Engineer

- Engineer

- Senior Engineer

- Staff Engineer

- Senior Staff Engineer

Your title and level will be determined based on your experience, skills, and the scope of responsibility appropriate for the role.

What You'll Do:

- Own test readiness, test execution, instrumentation, post-processing, and evidence packages for system verification work.

- Define data products, output formats, quick-look checks, and post-test analysis workflows before a test starts — deriving what must be measured from the requirement and expected physics from first principles rather than reusing prior test setups.

- Ensure no test leaves the facility without usable data, a clear owner for analysis, and an initial quality check on results.

- Build and improve test procedures, instrumentation plans, checklists, and post-test review workflows.

- Support bring-up, debugging, and fault isolation across system interfaces during verification efforts.

- Work with systems, mechanical, electrical, and software teams to improve test quality, repeatability, and observability.

- Drive disciplined handling of raw data, intermediate results, and test evidence so verification outcomes are defensible.

- Help translate test results into clear evidence packages that support requirement closure and engineering decisions.

What You'll Need:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.

- We hire across levels, and experience expectations scale accordingly — from interns and new grads (relevant coursework, projects, or prior internships) through senior engineers (roughly 3+ years of hands-on system testing, integration, instrumentation, data capture, or post-processing).

- Experience with hands-on system testing, instrumentation, data capture, and post-processing.

- Good judgment around experimental discipline, data usability, and test ownership.

- Ability to turn raw outputs into clear technical evidence that supports pass/fail decisions.

- Assemble and operate test equipment and test units in laboratory and field environments.

- Design test fixtures, support equipment, monitoring equipment, and design modifications to test hardware.

- Comfort working across mechanical, electrical, software, and systems teams in a fast-paced environment.

You'll Stand Out:

- Strong instincts for catching missing instrumentation, weak analysis plans, or ambiguous ownership before a test starts.

- A track record of improving test discipline, repeatability, or data quality in complex hardware-software systems.

- A strong bias toward automation — building tooling to automate data capture, post-processing, quick-look checks, and test execution rather than doing them by hand.

- Comfort working through messy raw data formats and incomplete conditions without losing rigor.

- Experience with Military/Aerospace testing standards such as MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, RTCA DO-160.

- Experience with requirements management in JAMA or DOORS.

- A bias toward action combined with strong experimental discipline and technical follow-through.

What We Offer:

- Competitive salary

- ACS Equity Package

- Health, Dental, Vision Insurance

- Paid Time Off
