Career Coach/Advisor

Job Summary:

As a member of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Office of Career and Professional Development (OCPD), the Career Coach/Advisor plays an important role in helping a diverse, international community of over 1,200 master's- and doctoral-level public health students leverage their public health education and training in support of their career and professional development. 

Job-Specific Responsibilities:

• Provides one-on-one career coaching and advising in 30 and 45-minute sessions to students and alumni in all aspects of the career development process with the goal of moving students forward in their career goals; documents student interactions; provides follow-up with resources as needed; and shares pertinent information within the coaching team.

• Offers 15-20 hours of coaching appointments per week and holds 400+ coaching appointments per year.

• Adheres to professional standards, ethics, and confidentiality in coaching and advising

• Delivers a comprehensive series of customized programs, workshops, and networking events to increase the career readiness skills of Harvard Chan students, offered in person or online

• Keeps current on key trends in recruiting and hiring, including new job and fellowship opportunities across industries of interest to Harvard Chan students, and informs staff accordingly

• Contributes to content development and curation of career resources e.g. print materials, website, etc. and updates as needed

• Contributes to the overall strategic planning of the office

• Works collaboratively with teammates within OCPD, Student Services, and across the School and University, including building productive partnerships with key faculty, staff, administrators, and students

• Serves as a key part of the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced, service-oriented team

• Performs other duties and projects as assigned
